ESG maturity is a way to understand a companies collected ESG data in order to evaluate ESG current state, ESG strategy and track ESG performance in a more vivid and qualitative way.
ESG data - derived from for example compliance activities for CSRD - can be turned into metrics that tell quantitative and qualitative stories about the past, the present and even the future of a company, a department even an entire industry or region.
To be able to calculate ESG maturity metrics it is very important to ensure that the data landscape or an organisation is ready enough to support data driven management of ESG. But it is also possible to calculate these metrics based on interviews, questionnaires and already existing reports.
Examples of ESG maturity metrics:
- ESG Data Maturity
- Overall ESG Maturity
- ESG, E, S and G Maturity of a business unit
- ESG Risk Maturity
- ESG Solutions Maturity
- ESG Transformation Potential
- ESG Transformation Velocity
ESG Maturity also helps to compare results and learn from it. Eventually maturity metrics help to set up benchmarks reports that enable ESG strategy and support decission making.
