Sustainable development is a movement with a certain direction towards the future. The engine behind this movement is the circular economy. And the workforce is the operator of that engine. In the end it is that simple. The economical activities of people, the workforce, is what matters.
ESG as the guiding business strategy framework
ESG is an helpful business strategy framework to steer business activity in the right direction with measurable results. At the same time an ESG strategy only works if organisational culture (Don't forget: "Culture eats strategy for breakfast.") and the available skills support this direction. Another important aspect to have in mind to accomplishing ESG transformation is the X curve of transformation.

FEST: An ESG strategy framework
Because of the strong association with compliance, the first thought about ESG might not be over enthousiastic. However, it is important to look beyond compliance and see ESG as a strategy to uncover opportunity. That sounds a lot better right?
The overview below draws on the 10 main topics of the ESG compliance framework but adds the risk and solutions dimension to it. The circular economy, (bio)diversity, the workforce and end-users are in the solutions space. A strategy that focuses on these positives will mitigate or even avoid the risks at the same time.
